Learning about Opera

Opera is a rich, multimedia experience. Toledo Opera's learning programs encourage young people and adults to actively participate in this exciting art form.

Student Programs

Toledo Opera has two programs which introduce students to the thrilling experience of live opera. Opera on Wheels is a touring production that, over two months in the spring of each year, goes to over sixty elementary schools in northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan. Student Night at the Opera invites middle and high school students, accompanied by teachers and/or parents, to come to the final dress rehearsal of the season’s main stage productions for the nominal fee of $5 a ticket.

Programs for Adults

Programs which provide insight into a particular opera, a composer or some aspect of the world of opera enhance and deepen the opera-going experience for both first-time audience members and those who are already confirmed opera lovers. Learn more about opera by coming to the opera a little early for a Pre-Opera Talk one hour prior to the performance or by attending a Tuesday Talk presented by Sara Jobin, Toledo Opera's associate conductor. Are you a first-time opera goer? Click on Opera FYI for information on what to expect and how to participate.
