Toledo, OH – Owing to the explosion in the Valentine
Theatre on November 23, 2007, the Theatre will not be reopened
in time for Toledo’s Opera’s production of Il
Trovatore. Toledo Opera has moved this
production to the Maumee Performing Arts Center, 1147 Saco St.
in Maumee, OH. The performances will be presented
on the originally scheduled dates of Saturday, March 1, Friday,
March 7 and Sunday, March 9, 2008.
Toledo Opera feels fortunate to be performing
in this state-of-the art theater facility. General & Artistic
Director Renay Conlin said that “we are thrilled to find
a beautiful performing facility at such a late date. Our audience
will find the hall to be extremely comfortable and attractive.”
The Opera has sent notices to all its subscribers
and to all Il
Trovatore single ticket holders notifying them of the
change in venue. New tickets will be issued and mailed to them
along with detailed directions to the Arts Center after the
Opera Gala.
Il Trovatore (The Troubadour)
by Giuseppe Verdi is a true blood-and-thunder Italian opera and
reflects the height of mid-19th century Romantic music. Two brothers,
separated at birth, fall in love with the same woman and fight
to the death for love and country. The opera has worldwide popularity
because of its immense verve and unbridled temperament. It is
filled with melodies that are stirring, passionate in expression
and dramatic in effect. Toledo Opera’s production, in its
alternative venue, has put together a cast of extraordinary singers
that will bring this great opera to life.
Tickets are available for all
performances of Toledo Opera’s Il
Trovatore on March 1, 7 and 9 at the
