Toledo Opera announces auditions for children for its fall production
of Carmen. The Opera’s Children’s Chorus offers
an exceptional choral music and theatrical performance experience
in a professional environment for young people. Such activities
have been shown to foster creativity, personal expression and confidence.
Recent performances of Pagliacci, La Bohème,
Tosca, and Amahl and the Night Visitors have featured
the Children’s Chorus.
September
9 is the first day of rehearsals, which continue on Sunday and Wednesday evenings
at the Toledo Opera Studio in the Secor Building in downtown Toledo, with additional
rehearsals scheduled as needed. Performances of Carmen are at the
Valentine Theatre on November 1, 3, 9 and 11.
The Children’s Chorus has shared
the stage with international opera singers in fully-staged and
costumed productions, providing an exciting and rewarding artistic
experience for the participants. This is a unique opportunity
for a young person who loves to sing and act.
Boys and girls, ages 8-12, or their parents, are invited to contact
Renay Conlin, General and Artistic Director, 419-255-7464 for more
information or to arrange an audition.
