April 4 Voter Registration Drive in partnership with the League of Women Voters featuring an excerpt from Trial By Jury with Caroline Miller (The Plaintiff) and Steve Wipfli (Lucas Metropolitan Housing Authority Plazas)
April 7 From the Courthouse to the Opera House: A Panel Discussion on Scalia/Ginsburg and the Judicial System featuring an excerpt from Scalia/Ginsburg with Jennifer Zetlan (Ruth Bader Ginsburg) and Brian Cheney (Antonin Scalia) Panel begins promptly at 6 PM (McQuade Law Auditorium, University of Toledo) Panelists Judge Jeffrey Sutton (United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit), Justice Judith Ann Lanzinger (retired, Ohio Supreme Court), and Professor Rebecca Zietlow (Charles W. Fornoff Professor of Law and Values at the University of Toledo College of Law) and moderator Sr. U.S. District Judge James Carr will engage this groundbreaking and provocative libretto as a starting point for a lively discussion of the judicial system. Topics will include the divide in academia and the courts between the Originalists and the Living Constitutionalists, collegiality and its relevance to appellate review, the mechanics of multi-judge courts, and the accomplishments and legacy of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. April 14 Scalia/Ginsburg Day at the Toledo Museum of Art: Ticketed luncheon ($35) hosted by the Toledo Opera Guild featuring Scalia/Ginsburg composer Derrick Wang and Yvette McGee Brown, Partner at Jones Day and Ohio Supreme Court Justice (retired) in a discussion led by attorney Ashley Futrell. Luncheon followed by a free gallery tour of works related to themes in Scalia/Ginsburg and excerpts from the opera.
