*Opera (def.): plural of opus, the Latin word for work. Opera is in essence many “works” combined: story, music, theater, dance, and visual elements such as scenery and costumes.

Introduce your middle and high school students to opera by bringing them to the final dress rehearsal of Toledo Opera's main stage productions performed at the elegant Valentine Theatre. La bohème, with its memorable arias and memorable characters, shows both the romance and the gritty realism of bohemian life in 19th century Paris. Mozart’s masterpiece, Don Giovanni, has a visually compelling new look, as our production sets this classic Don Juan story in the 1950’s.
