Toledo Opera Appoints New Leaders: James M. Norman and Kevin Bylsma

James M. Norman and Kevin Bylsma have been appointed as the new leadership of Toledo Opera upon the retirement of current Executive Director Suzanne Rorick on May 31, 2024. James M. Norman will serve as the General Director and Kevin Bylsma will serve as the Artistic Director. Norman and Bylsma bring a combined 45 years of experience with Toledo Opera as a company. This announcement comes following a Toledo Opera Board-led interview process.

Toledo Opera Executive Director Suzanne Rorick will retire upon the end of the 2023-24 fiscal year, on May 31, 2024. Co-Artistic Directors James M. Norman and Kevin Bylsma will succeed her as General Director and Artistic Director respectively.

Toledo Opera to Hold “Operatunity Day” & Triviata Night

Toledo Opera will hold “Operatunity Day,” a one-day campaign to raise $20,000 on November 2, 2023. Contributions made throughout Operatunity Day will support mainstage productions, youth opera education, and community outreach programs for the 2023-24 season. Toledo Opera will present Gioachino Rossini’s Cinderella (La Cenerentola) on Friday, October 6, at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, October 8, at 2 p.m. at the Valentine Theatre, 400 North Superior, Toledo, Ohio. Performed by Toledo Opera for the first time, this production boasts a star-studded cast and a world-class creative team.
