Toledo Opera is seeking the following performers to serve as Resident Artists for the 2024-2025 season: soprano, mezzo-soprano, tenor, bass/baritone, and pianist.
The Board of Trustees of the Stranahan Supporting Organization of the Greater Toledo Community Foundation has approved a grant to Toledo Opera in the amount of $47,500.
Toledo Opera will hold “Operatunity Day,” a one-day campaign to raise $20,000 on November 2, 2023. Contributions made throughout Operatunity Day will support mainstage productions, youth opera education, and community outreach programs for the 2023-24 season. Operatunity Day will conclude with Triviata Night – a trivia event at The Blarney Irish Pub (601 Monroe Street, Toledo, OH 43604) beginning at 6 p.m.
Toledo Opera and The Toledo Spirits Company will host the pop-up event, “Get into the Spirit of Opera,” on Tuesday, September 26 at 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. at The Toledo Spirits Company, 1301 North Summit Street, Toledo, OH 43604.
Toledo Opera has partnered with Toledo Lucas County Public Library and media partner WGTE Public Media to present a full day of free events in anticipation of Toledo Opera’s upcoming production of Cinderella on Thursday, September 21 from 9:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. at Sylvania Branch Library located at 6749 Monroe Street, Sylvania, OH 43560.
Toledo Opera will present Gioachino Rossini’s Cinderella (La Cenerentola) on Friday, October 6, at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, October 8, at 2 p.m. at the Valentine Theatre, 400 North Superior, Toledo, Ohio. Performed by Toledo Opera for the first time, this production boasts a star-studded cast and a world-class creative team.
Toledo Opera and Ohio Living Swan Creek will host an intergenerational event, a Cinderella Royal-Tea on Saturday, September 23 at 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Ohio Living Swan Creek (5916 Cresthaven Lane, Toledo, Ohio 43614). Tickets can be purchased at toledoopera.org.
Toledo Opera resident artists Sara Mortensen (soprano), Imara Miles (mezzo soprano), Jon Suek (tenor), Evan Fleming (baritone), and Steven Naylor (pianist) have arrived in Toledo for the 2023-2024 season.
Opera Outdoors returns this September with weekly performances at Wildwood Preserve Metropark.
Toledo Opera is holding a Cinderella Coloring Contest in three age divisions. The winner of each division will receive complimentary tickets for a family of four to Cinderella on either Friday, October 6, 2023 at 7:30 p.m. or Sunday, October 8, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at the Valentine Theatre, 400 North Superior, Toledo, Ohio. The deadline to register and submit coloring pages is Friday, September 22, 2023.
