“I'm in love, I’m in love, I’m in love with a wonderful guy,” sang soprano, Claire Leyden, at the Toledo Opera Guild’s winter luncheon at Highland Meadows Golf Club.
Jim Norman, Toledo Opera’s general director, introduced Leyden who is the lead performer in the upcoming Toledo Opera’s performances of South Pacific at the Valentine Theater. Her performance was enchanting, said Laura Draheim, a guild member.
Colorful silk flowers, arranged by Beth Bowman, graced the tables. She also donated raffle baskets along with Kate Adams-Nameche.
Kudos to Mirella Pardee, luncheon chairman, for the menu selection: baked salmon, chicken marsala, and vegetable wellington. The hot topic of conversation was making arrangements to meet at the Valentine Theater for one of the upcoming performances of South Pacific.
He said he wears many hats in the music community and shared many stories.
Joel and Clare Gorski, Christina Conway, Gina Pope, and Opera Guild co-president Barbara Brown listened intently.
Conversation was particularly lively at another table. Kevin Bylsma, Toledo Opera’s artistic director, shared his enthusiasm for opera, his love of performing, and stories from his musical journey. Opera Guild co-president Cindy Niggemyer, Amy Saylor, Peggy Richards, Judi Uhrman, and Cherie Jo Williams peppered him with many questions.
ENJOY this weekend with Valentine's Day and Presidents’ Day.
