Toledo Opera and Handmade Toledo are set to present “Unmasking Carmen: A Toledo Opera Tuesday Talk.”

The event, set for Sept. 30, 2025 at Handmade Toledo, will feature a live panel discussion in which artists discuss the famed Bizet opera in the modern context.

Among the panelists will be filmmaking instructor and theatre director Megan Aherne; Toledo Resident Artists Rachel Bacani; local dancer and choreographer, costume designer; and founder of Destination Events Sabriyah Davis; and visual artist and educator Yusuf Lateef.

“With Unmasking Carmen, we’re excited to collaborate with Handmade Toledo to highlight the many ways artists interpret, question, and transform the stories they bring to life,” noted Toledo Opera General Director James M. Norman, per an official press release. “This program invites our community to see Carmen through fresh eyes and discover the creative voices shaping its meaning today.”
