Toledo Opera will hold its annual “OPERAtunity Day” on Thursday, Nov. 20. It is a community-wide day of giving in support of the company’s mission to enrich lives in the region through the power of opera. The celebration will culminate that evening with “Triviata Night,” which will take place at Toledo Spirits, 1301 N. Summit St., Toledo, and will feature general-knowledge trivia with an operatic twist.

Of Toledo Opera’s annual budget, 18% comes from ticket sales – the rest depends on the generosity of supporters. OPERAtuninty Day invites the community to help “fill the gap” that will help Toledo Opera continue to thrive. Contributions made throughout the day sustain education and outreach initiatives like Opera On Wheels, support the Toledo Opera Chorus, and cover operating needs that keep the curtain rising, the lights glowing, and the music alive for the community.

For Toledo Opera General Director James M. Norman, OPERAtunity Day represents more than a fundraiser – it’s a reflection of the community’s shared commitment to the arts: “OPERAtunity Day is a reminder of how deeply this community values the arts, especially in a moment when nonprofits everywhere are facing real challenges. When you give – whether it’s a little or a lot – you help ensure that Toledo Opera can continue to share the music, storytelling, and human connection with audiences across our region. Your support keeps the arts accessible, inspiring, and vital. We’re grateful to stand together in sustaining something truly meaningful. And Triviata Night is a fun way to cap off this important day of fundraising!”

At Triviata Night, guests can enjoy an evening of friendly competition, camaraderie, and community spirit. The winning team will receive a prize: a walk-on role in an upcoming Toledo Opera production. Triviata Night will be hosted by Norman, and Artistic Director, Kevin Bylsma. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the game begins at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 per person or $100 for teams of four or more.

“It’s wonderful to see how this event has become a yearly favorite,” shared Toledo Opera Development Officer Leah Whitaker. “I love watching our otherwise quiet and mild-mannered opera lovers turn into fierce competitors chasing that coveted walk-on role in our opera. The competition gets pretty intense as the night goes on!”

Donations can be made throughout the day at https://tolo-internet.choicecrm.net/#/account and tickets for Triviata Night are available at toledoopera.org or by calling 419-255-7464.
